Better Together in Disaster Response

Why Disaster Relief Matters
Natural disasters leave families displaced and communities broken. Tornadoes, hurricanes, floods—each leaves devastation in its wake.
But when we come together, we bring more than chainsaws and tools. We bring hope.
Where It All Began
Our Disaster Response Team (DRT) ministry began in 2004. After Hurricane Katrina, over 50 volunteers showed up on day one in Gulfport, Mississippi and hundreds followed.
Since then, we’ve:
- Responded in nearly every Southeastern state (and beyond)
- Grown to eight fully equipped teams with trailers and tools
- Partnered with states like South Carolina to launch new teams
- Helped countless communities rebuild and recover
From The Field
The real story of DRT is told by the men who serve:
“That first flood response changed me. To receive a blessing, you need to be a blessing—and Master’s Men is exactly that.”
“What started as a small effort grew into 40+ trips, rebuilding homes. It was a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ in action.”
“One woman told us she didn’t know what to do until we showed up. Our presence gave her hope again.”
“When people ask, ‘What do you charge?’ we get to say, ‘Nothing.’ That testimony of Christ’s love often opens doors for the gospel.”
A Mind to Work
Today, active teams are serving in:
- Oklahoma
- Kentucky
- Virginia
- Florida
- Ohio
- Tennessee
- …and more states are organizing.
Like Nehemiah’s workers, we come together with a mind to work. Because when God’s people unite, we truly are better together.
